about
It seems that a lot of people seem to have us figured out (or so they think). They push their advice and opinions on us as if they know our every motive and desire that pushes us towards our goals/dreams. This song is written as a letter to these people in my life explaining why I do it and the desire to run from their disapproval in an "I'll show you" kind of way.
lyrics
Verse:
I don’t have the money to
be what you want me to be
But I’m sorry buddy but
Your opinion has nothing to do with me (yeah)
Pre-Chorus:
So as you look into my eyes
Which are fixed on the skies
You will see me on top of that mountain you were
Afraid to climb
Chorus:
(Oh I’m going out west
I’m going to shine among the best) x 2
Verse 2:
And people encourage me
But almost to demean
Like I’ma go out and burn out
And be cured of this dream
Go back fall right back
Right back into their schemes
Pre-Chorus:
So as you look into my eyes
Which are fixed on the skies
You will see me on top of that mountain you were
Afraid to climb
Chorus:
(Oh I’m going out west
I’m going to shine among the best) x 2
Bridge:
I don’t know what your motives are
Or what makes you think you can tell me if I can go far
Oh you don’t know the half of it
Up late thinking bout my life and ending it
And all I had
Was this guitar in my hand
Guitar Solo
Chorus:
(Oh I’m going out west
I’m going to shine among the best) x 4
